Thread: Any gamers out there excited for Red Dead Redemption?

tfhello - 5/17/2010 at 06:00 PM

I never pre-order games, but this one I did. Gotta love being able to immerse yourself in a 60/70’s era Western. I hope it live up to the hype and it comes out tomorrow.

If you pre-order it on Amazon, you get a $20 gift card with it.

Is it anything like Mike Tyson's Punchout? That's the last video game I played.

tfhello - 5/17/2010 at 06:14 PM

No I never played that one, but I did play Red Dead Revolver on PS2. It was cool, but this one looks like it blow is out of the water.

Cue the theme from “The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly.”

Even if you’re not into games, I think that any fan of Westerns would be impressed. Please watch the trailers to see for yourself.

Red Dead Revolver was great... haven't tried any of the other ones... I'm so far behind, I still have to get around to beating "Lost", "Metal Gear Solid 4", "Uncharted 2" and one other thats slipping my mind

That does look awesome! I don't have much time for gaming but enjoy it when I get the chance. I LOVE westerns though, so i might have to make time for this one I never do the on-line multi-player games though. I hope there is some great single player modes or versus modes with this too.

Thanks for the heads up!

TECMO BOWL. By far, the best video game ever made. And I have a ps3, and play new games, and you still can't convince me that anything was ever made that's better than the original Tecmo Bowl.

We all have our favorites. Super Mario Galaxy was awesome in my opinion so I'm stoked about SMG2.

Currently I'm enjoying God of War III quite a bit.

And thanks for the video link -- Red Dead Redemption does look sweet and I missed out on Red Dead Revolver.

I just finished GOW, loved the graphics, but I thought the dialog was lame. I didn't pre-order RDR, but, I think I'm going to get it,
The reviews look great.

I'm with ya on the GOW dialogue. It's lame. I usually tune that stuff out on videogames anyway (I loved the entire Halo series but could only give you the most vague overview of Halo 2 and 3), but for some reason I wanted to know what was going on with GOWIII, so I put the subtitles on, and, yeah. Oh well, I play videogames for fun, and so far the thing's fun.

I guess I'm a super nerd, too, because I know what you mean with those initials. (Hot wife, good job, and social skills notwithstanding )... I'd argue that MMORPGs are way nerdier, though.

I even have a microphone headset and teamspeak account.

BTW, who here has a PS3?

If you have one, I will have something fun to share with you in the next week or so, so let me know and I'll keep you in mind.

I have a PS3.

Derek, add me to your friends list and maybe we can meet up on-line. My PS Network name is MidnightRider123.

I've also just got Demon's Souls and that game is rough, but I can't seem to stop playing it.

I have a PS3, but don't remember my handle...

funkyfan - 5/19/2010 at 07:39 PM

I have a PS3 and I prefer it to the 360. I know I should give the 360 another chance -- I quit using it before they changed the interface, even -- but the 360 pissed me off with overheating and noise issues. I love the PS3, though. I even like the PS3 controller better and the controller is supposed to be one of the strong points of the 360.

rosshmusic - 5/19/2010 at 08:31 PM

I like games on my PS3 but rarely have much time to play them... Mine is mostly used as a blu-ray player... Netflix works pretty darn well, just wish I could get enough bandwidth for the HD streams (My max is 3Mb). Though I've been streaming to the same TV from my mac for a while and it's "true" web interface works better for things other then straight viewing
(such as managing my queue).

Got you PM WBD, and responded.
