Thread: The Something Positive Thread

slowhand6 - 5/6/2010 at 03:53 PM

For every negative post you read, come on in here and post something positive to neutralize the karma. A sort of Febrezing of the Forum!

I'll go first

1. The Allman Brothers are still performing and we have a few chances to go see them make magic. {{{{{VIBES}}}}}

That's positive, because it means you're less likely to have to see a post from me tomorrow....

Cross the ocean to some distant land
We'll reach the end we'll all be singin'

Working from home today with no 'major fires' needing put out. The birds are singing outside my window, Punkin is laying here at my feet, sun is shining, sky is blue and it's a beautiful day here in Middle Earth.

When it's not always raining there'll be days like this
When there's no one complaining there'll be days like this
When everything falls into place like the flick of a switch
Well my mama told me there'll be days like this

When you don't need to worry there'll be days like this
When no one's in a hurry there'll be days like this
When you don't get betrayed by that old Judas kiss
Oh my mama told me there'll be days like this

When you don't need an answer there'll be days like this
When you don't meet a chancer there'll be days like this
When all the parts of the puzzle start to look like they fit
Then I must remember there'll be days like this

When everyone is up front and they're not playing tricks
When you don't have no freeloaders out to get their kicks
When it's nobody's business the way that you wanna live
I just have to remember there'll be days like this

When no one steps on my dreams there'll be days like this
When people understand what I mean there'll be days like this
When you ring out the changes of how everything is
Well my mama told me there'll be days like this

Oh my mama told me
There'll be days like this

Got 2 dozen roses of assorted colors from my son today for Mother's Day.

I am blessed with a great family, at home, here and on Dickey's site. I have a decent roof over my head, enough food to eat, a job, love, friends, great music and reasonable health. What more can I ask?

I learned a bunch about regulating the action of a grand Piano by the local president of the PTG(Piano Technicians Guild)...and I have a great family...

Oh yeah how about a shout out to Rowland and Lana

My son just called and he scored us tickets to Roger Waters The Wall tour this fall. That made me smile big (and it's cool because we've had a history of attending Roger Waters shows together for awhile )

slowhand6 - 5/7/2010 at 02:18 PM

I made it home last night by 2:30 am. I crawled in to bed and my 3-yr old daughter curled up against me right away. I haven't slept that good in weeks.

Jack Pearson again this year got to sit in with the Brothers and show why many think he is the best ... and i am still floored by his playing...

Stephen - 5/7/2010 at 02:41 PM

The Brents, the Leftys, the BigDaveOnBass, Tony Tylers, & others who post here -- who Play this fantastic music too (I still got that pick Brent)

All the amazing interpretations -- from Pickin' on the Allman Brothers, and BHLT, to Sea Level, the Derek Trucks Band & beyond -- & the fact that these guys were On Top Of It -- past it many have said -- right into 2009 to the present -- thank you ABB for the 2009 Gilford show

Charlesinator - 5/7/2010 at 03:03 PM

Went to see my mom at a Mother's Day Breakfast today at the rest home. The entertainment was one of the girls that work there helping out with the hard stuff like cooking and cleaning. Her name was Cookie. She sang two gospel numbers. One of them was called "Grateful" I believe. I'm still moved ... there are still plenty of good people doing it the right way for the right reasons. God bless 'em.

Randomly picking something from those thousands of shows and having it be Gov't Mule from 6.9.95....

"There might not be many of you, but you sure are loud...."

Wow - what a band, what a 3 players with the same brain, they sound so good and tight.

hotlantatim - 5/7/2010 at 08:10 PM

Here's something very positive:

Walking into my first ABB extended family fan gathering March 1999 - met a bunch of regulars from here and the Listserv, including the & only Lana. I've hosted some of those gatherings myself and attended and met so many amazing folks through the years at gatherings put together by others --- in NYC, Macon, Spirit of Suwanee Music Park, Georgian Terrace/Fox in Atlanta, New Orleans, Charlotte and other places around the South. That's been very positive!

My puppy Punkin - all 60 pounds of this furball. She makes me smile daily just looking at her and laugh out loud frequently just being her goofy self. And when we go for walks, people who are walking towards us break into big grins when they see her because she just has that affect on folks (although she's oblivious to all this). So I guess she's a positive force of nature for more than just me.

There is a basic law that like attracts like. Negative thinking definitely attracts negative results. Conversely, if a person habitually thinks optimistically and hopefully, his positive thinking sets in motion creative forces -- and success instead of eluding him flows toward him.

My 3 1/2 year old grandson tell me about his day at the Bronx Zoo. He said he had a really great day and was very happy. Kids know the secret of living in the present. He tells great stories. Pure love he is.

lolasdeb - 5/17/2010 at 04:59 PM

The sun was shining this weekend in my corner of MiddleEarth and I was able to spend a lot of time outdoors... got 1/2 of the gardens around my house cleaned out and the yard mowed. Got some walks along the river with Punkin. Which always crack me up ... there is a public drinking fountain on the trail we walk and it has a ground level doggie drinking fountain attached and everytime we get to that point of the trail and she spots it in the distance her tail starts wagging like crazy and she makes a beeline for 'her' drinking fountain. It's fun seeing her enjoy her little 'traditions' on these walks. Finally got a chance to get my new bike out for a nice ride ... about 11 miles on this maiden voyage but it sure felt good to be on a bicycle again and riding the trails through the woods ... lovely.

Congrats peachheadcpl on your new blessing!!!

And drea-ny ... your post made me smile so ... 3 1/2 year olds do have a way with a story...

The doctor gave me his personal cell phone number and told me to call him if my father was in pain and I could not get him to the office.
