LONDON - Keith Richards has acknowledged consuming a raft of illegal substances in his time, but this may top them all.

In comments published Tuesday, the 63-year-old Rolling Stones guitarist said he had snorted his father’s ashes mixed with cocaine.

“The strangest thing I’ve tried to snort? My father. I snorted my father,” Richards was quoted as saying by British music magazine NME.

“He was cremated, and I couldn’t resist grinding him up with a little bit of blow. My dad wouldn’t have cared,” he said, adding that “it went down pretty well, and I’m still alive.”

Richards’ father, Bert, died in 2002, at 84.

Richards, one of rock’s legendary wild men, told the magazine that his survival was the result of luck, and advised young musicians against trying to emulate him.

“I did it because that was the way I did it. Now people think it’s a way of life,” he was quoted as saying.

“I’ve no pretensions about immortality,” he added. “I’m the same as everyone ... just kind of lucky.

“I was No. 1 on the ‘who’s likely to die’ list for 10 years. I mean, I was really disappointed when I fell off the list,” Richards said

Man, that's worse than Ozzy Osbourne snorting a line of ants. I think.

How he is still alive is mindboggling.

Is your stepfather Keith Richards????

Redd Foxx told a joke in a similar vein, but I'll refrain on that one on here.

I know an old biker dude from here who died recently, and the same thing was done with his ashes. And NO, I did NOT participate. My sinuses are in bad enough shape with all the pine pollen floating around right now.

Hiya Linnie...

Did you or anyone else happen to see Keith a couple weeks ago back at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction? He inducted the Ronettes and his tribute to them was heartfelt but man...he seemed like he was pretty looped to me. But he was hilarious. Pure Keith.

He also seems to have borrowed a bit of the "Jack Sparrow" look from his pal Johnny Depp. Or was it the other way around? .....

Johnny has repeatedly said that he modeled Jack after Keith......

and Keith is set to be in the third Pirates movie.....(*as Jack's dad)

On a similar note, I do carry the ashes of one of my club brothers, Slim, with me on my bike.

Slim died of throat cancer at age 42 back in 2003. He was cremated and another of the guys in the club, a machinist, made some small billet cannisters with screw tops to put some of his ashes in. They also had two shallow grooves cut in at each end for an o-ring to reduce vibration noise. Also, an o-ring seals the screw top lid. We each took our cannisters of Slim's ashes and slipped them up inside the handlebars of our bikes. So, symbolically, Slim is still riding with us.

Regarding Johnny Depp. I have to envy anyone who can count both Keef and the late Hunter S. Thompson as friends....

Keef never ceases to amaze. The great running joke of what will survive a nukelear attack "cockroaches and Keith Richards."
