Thread: Mickey Hart vs. Bill Kreutzmann

CanadianMule - 4/3/2007 at 06:06 PM

I figured this was tomorrow's thread so I helped our friend out.

This has absolutely nothing to do with the Grateful Dead.

I think they are both great, but Mickey has the edge in my book because he's so dedicated to rhythm and the pursuit of awesome sounds (i.e. The Beam). I do love Billy, but Mickey is, in my opinion, the better percussionist.

I prefer Billy... Mickey is definitely experimental but almost to a fault. Billy keeps everything grounded which is EXACTLY what a drummer is supposed to do.

Peace

When the Dead had 1 drummer back in the early 70's , Billy's playin was amazing, very "crispy" and I don't think anyone missed Mickey either. If I had to chose I'd go with Kruetzman. Mickey better suited to solo projects and being the "space" in drumz and space.

If you ride you pay the fare, with satan on your back he don't care.

I think Billy, in the first three rounds by a TKO

Just please don't let Mickey do his Fire On The Mountain rap.

FIRE! FIRE! FIRE on the mountain!
