"A song for our Father".
Very cool, Devon - thanks for the tip... will have to check this out (I see Salvador Santana has a cover of Evil Ways, also)

harvey - 2/23/2007 at 12:47 AM

Just checked out the addresses of Target stores and there is one in Brooklyn ... will it be ok for a limey to stroll over the Brooklyn Bridge and go down there

Brucebcd - 2/23/2007 at 12:54 AM

speaking of covers, and Rider.

that's a real sweet taste of "Riders on the Storm" that sneaks out in some of your jams (7/4/06).

would love to hear that on your next album!!!

gina - 2/23/2007 at 12:55 AM

Just went to the Target website for a sneak peak! Sounds awesome Devon! Thanks for the Myspace heads up too!

devonallman - 2/23/2007 at 01:00 AM

Thanks for the great response ...we are honored to be a part of this very cool project. And thanks for the nod to the Riders on the Storm thing ....won't ever make an album but we love throwing in teasers at the show. Some things you CAN count on for the next 20 years on Honeytribe records is an instrumental , a cover of an rnb or blues or reggae song and for the record to be made in a historic studio. That I can promise. We were going to make our next record at Compass Pointe in the Bahamas ..but they don't have the old board we want for our sound. We are now looking into Abbey Road studios ...Electric Ladyland and Criteria....

Thanks for the love y'all

Angelemerald - 2/23/2007 at 01:16 AM

Nice project. Louise Goffin, Devon, Santana's son. Very cool. Have to get it.

BTW, do you know if Ben Taylor also doing a track? He is mentioned in the first paragraph but not the second. Thanks.

The Target at 139 Flatbush avenue in Brooklyn is in a relatively safe area. Its in a ďhubĒ surrounded by a few other big stores and a Long Island Railroad station. (And also the probable future home of the New Jersey Nets NBA basketball team, but thatís a whole other discussion.)

But itís a long walk from the Beacon. The 2, 3, 4, 5, B, and Q all stop nearby.

And if you like steak, youíll be about 15 minutes (by cab) from probably the best steak in the US, at Peter Lugerís steak house.

Brooklyn Rocks!

susea - 2/24/2007 at 02:19 PM

Wonderful! Will be picking this up too!

ruthelane - 2/24/2007 at 07:46 PM

Y'all rock

LOL - Colin, I'm guessing that there are a ton of people around these parts who would be happy to purchase this at their local Target and present it to you at the Beacon. You wanting a copy? I can pick one up for you - save you that stroll across the Brooklyn Bridge (don't want you getting lost before any shows!!!) Just let me know...

Be sure to let Pedro know also, as well as the rest of Honeytribe. We're hoping to make Wanee07 MORE memorable than last year. And last year was incredible!!!

I am psyched!!

susea - 3/3/2007 at 10:08 PM

Me too!!!

foom - 3/3/2007 at 10:20 PM

Devon, youare unlike any other musician I've ever met. Soo down to earth, kind, I can go on & on. I'll never forget your last visit to Penns Peak; you opened up for GA&F. Afterwards, you hung out with a bunch of us near the bar. It's like you knew us before even though we've never met. I'll cherish the pics forever. Keep doin' what your doin' man.
God bless,

lexmark - 3/4/2007 at 12:34 AM

sounds good, a nice tribute, i'm on it.

ABBDutchFan - 3/4/2007 at 08:57 PM

Hello Colin,

Although you've already had an offer to save you that trip into Brooklyn across
the Brooklyn bridge i strongly recommend that you take that stroll anyway.
The bridge has a separate deck for pedestrians and while crossing it by foot you have a fantastic view of the Manhattan skyline and many cool objects to photograph. The bridge
itself is cool too. You could opt to walk both ways but you also could take a cab or the subway back. You could start or finish your walk with lunch at Pier 17. Some cool ships and yachts there and also an awesome spot to take pics from the Brooklyn bridge.
After passing the Brooklyn Bridge you can go to the right side. I think there's a small lighthouse there. Somewhere in that neigbourhood is a classy restaurant (well back in 1997 at least) but you can also sit at the bar for a pint. The restaurant is near the river. The bar is in front of a window with an awesome view of Manhattan. Made the cold brewskie (i think it was a Samuel Adams; great beer btw) extra tasty. What a view.
Funny detail; A few blocks into Brooklyn there was a nice litte cd/record store with a second hand section. I can still remember that i picked up a live 2cd from Blues Traveller
there. During the entire walk i never had the impression i was in an unsafe area. Actually met plenty of friendly people there. We nearly got invited to a wedding ! If you have the time in your schedule you will surely enjoy that walk.

ABBDutchFan - 3/4/2007 at 09:06 PM

Sorry for taking this thread off topic.

To be a bit more on topic:

I just ordered "Torch" this afternoon (together with "The Best Of Sea Level" and
JJ Grey & Mofro's recent release "Country Ghetto"). Kinda strange i didn't pick up
"Torch" sooner! Long overdue. Since i gonna see Devon Allman's Honeytribe for the first time in june (together with Gov't Mule in Cologne, Germany) i had an "urge" to get "torch"!!

susea - 3/10/2007 at 08:19 PM

Wonderful urge!! Glad you acted on it!!

I've been seeing Honeytribe alot with many more to come! We love them!

spygirl - 3/11/2007 at 02:06 AM

I think it would be cool if these two would do a song together for their fathers....

ruthelane - 3/12/2007 at 12:15 AM

I love this new CD "A Song For Our Father"
I love Devon's" Midnight Rider" and Santana's son singing "Evil Ways".
The rest of the music is really great too.
