Thread: Cookbook Recognition

Rusty - 1/3/2007 at 01:54 AM

Let's see, I get home and find a fat envelope in the mail from Ann Sandlin. She's copied me (and many others, I'm sure) on the communication between herself, Candace Oakley, the Historic Rose Hill Cemetary Foundation and the Community Foundation of Central Georgia.

It seems that there's been a lot of appreciation regarding Ann's cookbook sales and the money raised to preserve Rose Hill Cemetary.

Ann has been so graceful that she's spread the thanks and recognition to ALL of the supporters (buyers, I suppose) of the cookbook. Indeed the proclamation reads,

The Community Foundation of Central Georgia gratefully acknowledges a gift to the Historic Rose Hill Cemetary Foundation Fund

in memory of Berry Oakley and Duane Allman

by (get this): Ms. Ann Sandlin & ABB Cookbook Supporters.

I'm overwhelmed on several levels, but mainly that Ann is so incredibly modest to share this proud and important moment with all of us. We should all be proud of Ann and her assistants for this very great gesture. Thanks for including us Ann, but the "attagirl" should go to you and the folks who assisted you. Thanks again!

Why Ann, you've been proclamated!

But since it was for an extremely worthy cause I hope it didn't hurt and only tickled a small bit....

I got my letter at work today too. Thanks for a great job Ann and including us on the responses you received. First class job...........Thanks to all that made it happen.

Came home from work and my girlfriend was reading up on a couple of recipes. I am not sure the dish but she was interested in the recipe dedicated to Tinsley Ellis....................

Great Job to all.

Thank you everyone for the kind words. There was absolutely no way I could NOT include each of you in the thanks.....what was it someone once said....I couldn't be me without you! Had I not had the support of so many who contributed recipes, checked the recipes (yes RR you know who I'm talking about) encouraged us and made us believe it would really happen and all of the people who then bought the book. It was only right that any thanks and credit should go to you all! (Right here please insert big round of applause for everyone, a huge pat on the back to each of you and now take a bow!)

Ann without one of us participating the cookbook would have been fine, without you there would have been no cookbook....

Maybe, maybe not....but I know for certain there would be a lot of hyphens in it had you not done your part!

A quick note, I apologize for the quality of the copies.....I didn't realize they had lines in them, were a little light in places and sort of off kilter until I returned home from Office Depot. Lesson learned....don't make copies right after Christmas and before New Year's Eve!!!

and THAT my friends is the gospel truth if it's ever been told
i got my letter today too and am honored to've been able to put a couple of recipes in the book and worked with miss ann, sharon, rebecca and everbody else that contributed. it was fun, it was for a good cause and i hope it continues to generate money for the cemetary for years to come. ain't nothin but good can come of somethin like this when so many people get together & work on it. and to miss ann sandlin, you is a angel on earth and i love you dearly....................

Thank you for the mail, Ann, and thanks again for your gracious efforts with the book in the first place.

Denza - 1/4/2007 at 01:26 AM

Thanks Ann, with all the negative stuff that gets around about Rose hill, it's really nice to hear a positive. Your concept truly flourished.
