My score:

Is the earliest version of this song not by Robert Johnson? Or did he just do a version of Son House's song?

My score:

Preachin Blues is by Delta bluesman Son House. I have a great three disc anthology of blues recordings taken from the various Newport Folk Festivals from 1959 to 1968. The first disc features a set from Son House, and he does this tune, his voice accompanied by a lone guitar. I found out that by listening to the Allman Brothers Band and attending their shows, I start learning the names of the artists that influenced them. Thanks to the ABB, I've been learning and listening to all these great bluesmen. Who knew that going to a show also is an educational experience??
